The Endowment

Investing in the Next Century

The Case for Giving

Why the Endowment Matters

The Kent School Boat Club Endowment exists to ensure the long-term strength, stability, and independence of rowing at Kent.

Built through the generosity of alumni, parents, and supporters, the endowment funds coaching continuity, equipment, travel, and the competitive experience that has defined KSBC for a century.

Unlike annual giving, endowment funds are permanent. They allow the program to plan carefully and invest in the future without being constrained by year-to-year variability. Endowment dollars remain dedicated exclusively to Kent rowing.

Rowing has shaped generations of Kent students. The endowment is how we ensure that continues.

The Class Challenge

Help Your Class Win the Shell

The winning class names a shell at Kent.

The Class Challenge is a coxswain-led endowment competition between graduating classes. Each class's coxswain reaches out to classmates to raise funds for the KSBC Endowment. The class that raises the most, whether by total amount or percentage of participation, gets to name a new shell in their honor.

The time commitment is minimal. About 30 minutes every few months: write an email to your class, follow up with those who respond. The impact is lasting.

If you are interested in leading the Class Challenge for your year, reach out to Thad or Vashti directly.
